Keto Coffee, Yoga and Vacuum Cleaner Servicing

My first keto coffee of the day is taken in bed, like a grand lady from an old English movie. I don’t eat breakfast because I do Intermittent Fasting, so coffee is my friend.

When I wake up I’m almost always drowsy for the first hour at least. Most people wake up like this, and I find that it’s the perfect time to check up on social media, see who has contacted me, and who liked my posts on Instagram and Facebook.

A lot of people say you shouldn’t check your social media when you wake up, and instead spend time offline at the start of the day. This doesn’t work for me.

You really don’t need to be clear-headed to check your accounts, which means that first thing in the morning is a great time to get that out of the way. Later in the day I go back to any questions or messages and reply or comment.

I make my bed and take a shower and I’m ready for the day. I’ve already checked my socials, so I can now get started with what I want to achieve that day.

This morning I did yoga, which is a new thing I’ve added to every day in 2021.

I climbed down onto the floor to do yoga and noticed that the rug was really dirty, even though I vacuumed yesterday. Yuck.

My vacuum cleaner needs its yearly service, obviously. I looked up how to pull a Dyson vacuum cleaner apart a few years ago, when something got stuck inside it.

It was a great find, that instructional video. My husband, who passed away, used to call these kinds of videos the university of YouTube.

So, servicing the vacuum cleaner is something I’ll add to my task list today. Nobody likes a dirty rug. But first, it’s time for another keto coffee, because nobody likes a dopey Rachel either.

Family Christmas Prep

Will I blog more often in 2016? I’d love to get to this day next year and find a whole lot of posts on this blog throughout the year. The consistent bloggers choose one or more days each week and are sure to blog on those days, if not more. I think this is a brilliant idea, but hey, look, a butterfly…

Yes, I get easily distracted by a new project and then forget to blog about the amazing new project. I do some fun art projects, and I get a lot out of them, they are better than therapy at times! I’d like to blog about that process, the art to health thing. It really seems to work sometimes, although not always. When I’m in my studio, with my three legged cat Luigi on the desk snuggled up beside my laptop, and my labradaughter Sally sprawled out on the floor at my feet, I feel like I can do anything; no Pinterest artwork is beyond the scope of my ‘try this’ folder.

Doing fauxbonichi journalling daily has been a real pleasure the past few months. (To see what fauxbonichi journalling is, click here to go to my art blog) I have really enjoyed sketching a little, painting a little, writing a little about each day. It’s become a habit. A good one for a change.

Today I have to go grab some things for the family Christmas I’m hosting here on Tuesday. Just a few bits and pieces. I’m drinking coffee and putting it off, really should have left early to avoid the crowds. It looks like I’ll have to go alone, which is like doing public speaking at a venue for a thousand people for those of you who do not have chronic social phobia. Sure, I can do it, but when I get home there must be hot tea, maybe an hour in bed, maybe more.

I’m very grateful for the mild Christmas weather. Cool, windy, cloudy, rainy, it all makes for lovely times when you’re not an outdoors kind of person. I’d better go jump in my little car and go shopping.

be you xx Rach

5:2

I’m still doing the 5:2 fasting way of eating. This morning I weigh 94.4 kg, down from 67.6 kg at the start 9 days ago. I’m on a fast day today, so I should drop some more weight soon. Fasting is not as hard as I thought it would be. Today is the first day I’ve woken up keen for my fast day and not scared at all. Being a foodie, I was afraid before that I’d be so hungry I’d get ‘hangry’ which is the word for hungry angry, when you want to do an impression of the Hulk if you see food and you can’t eat it because you’re hungry.

As it turns out, the fast days are easier than the non fast days because I’m still struggling with how many calories to eat on a non fast day. Believe me, there are a variety of opinions on this topic. Some people follow the 500/2000 method. Others do a calculation using their BMI to get to the number of calories they should eat on their non-fast days. This number is usually around 2000 if you’re pretty overweight like me, but it can be much less if you’ve already lost a lot of weight. I know, I’m not being very precise. Some people in the Facebook groups eat only 1200 calories on non fast days, saying this helps them lose regularly. Others say if you eat too few calories you won’t lose weight. Then there’s the clean eating, the fat eating to lose weight, the vegan way, oh wow, everyone has an opinion.

Here’s what I’ve eaten so far, just the dates and the calories: 30/6 500 – 31/6 1594 – 1/8 2072 – 2/8 650 – 3/8 1415 – 4/8 388 – 5/8 1467 – 6/8 1894. It’s easy to see how I keep wavering between wanting to eat 1500-2000 calories. Make a decision, woman, and stick with it!. I did notice someone in one of the groups was eating 1500 some days and 2000 other days. Maybe I’m one of those. Maybe that’s okay. Maybe I need a cup of coffee. I’m hungry. It’s almost time for lunch.

Moving Office is Fun, But Will I Be Distracted By Terrigal?

I’ve just moved into a new office in downtown Terrigal. It’s a gorgeous place to work, and I get to share the top floor of a building with a friend and colleague who is one of the best people I know. So, I’m absolutely thrilled to be here, across the road from the most beautiful beach in the world. I can’t wait to run my first workshop, facilitate my first course, hold my first consult. I’m just a little bit worried about the distractions.

We have a shower in the bathroom here, ready to jump into after lunchtime Summer swims at the beach. There must be over thirty places downstairs to buy coffee, lunch, dinner and yummies. The local business owners in Terrigal are really friendly, so plenty of opportunities to have a chat. See what I mean? I’m surrounded by distractions.

I need a schedule and self control and a determination to achieve my goals. Right now, I think I’ll go down and grab a coffee. If I sit at the beach and drink it, I’ll definitely come back to the office refreshed and ready to fire on all cylinders.
